Nirmalya Chaudhuri

2023-2024

BA LLB (Hons), West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata

Nirmalya graduated with BA LLB (Hons) in 2023 from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. During his time at law school, he was fortunate to have his work published in various national and international blogs and journals of repute. Immediately after graduation, he went on to pursue his LLM degree at the University of Cambridge as a Prathiba M. Singh Cambridge Trust Scholar, from where he is due to graduate in July 2024.
At Cambridge, Nirmalya took up a variety of courses, focusing on intellectual property and information law, along with courses on private law and international taxation. After the LLM, he wishes to return back to India and litigate in the courts and tribunals across the country, in the hope that such firm academic grounding gained by him would hold him in good stead in representing clients and building up his litigation practice brick by brick.

Message:

At the outset, I would like to express my gratitude to Justice Prathiba M. Singh as well as the Cambridge Trust for selecting me as one of the recipients of the fully-funded scholarship, without which it would have been very difficult for me to pursue the LLM at the University of Cambridge. That being said, I do not view the scholarship as merely a financial contribution; rather it has truly been an indispensable vehicle that has helped transform my dreams of studying at Cambridge into reality. I do consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the chance to be a part of the famed and intensely cherished Cambridge experience- the dazzling formal halls, the impressive lectures, a truly global set of peers, as well as the natural and architectural beauty of the town itself, all of which combine to form a tapestry that is at once frighteningly daunting as well as deeply inspiring. As my time at Cambridge slowly draws to a close, I am sure that I will look back at these days with a lot of fondness and a fair bit of nostalgia, appreciating fully well the immense intellectual enrichment and fulfilment that I have gained over the past year.
