Message:
There would have been no Cambridge for me if not for the Prathiba M. Singh Cambridge Trust Scholarship. The scholarship offer came at a time when I had come to terms with the thought that I will have to give up on my LL.M. offer, due to lack of scholarship. The scholarship opened doors to a year full of wonderful experiences for which I am immensely grateful to Justice Prathiba Singh, Dr. Nikhil Tandon, Mr. Maninder Singh, the Sardar Manmohan Singh Charitable Trust, and the Cambridge Trust.
The year at Cambridge was an enriching academic experience, with my courses on International Intellectual Property, Law and Information, and Economics of Law and Regulation. I also ended up taking the public law seminar course where I wrote a dissertation on Sealed Covers and Evidentiary Privileges, under the supervision of Prof. Peter Cane. I was blessed with kind professors who were accommodative of my habit of turning in work at the last-minute, be it checking my formative essays 3 days before the exams, or giving feedback on my dissertation a week before the deadline, and were approachable to patiently have discussions outside the classroom set up.
Outside of classes, I was awed by the charm of the city, the beautiful Caius library, the river Cam, and the lively community at my college, Gonville and Caius. I spent most of my time riding through the city on my bicycle, and playing as many sports as I could get my hands on. I was part of my college teams for badminton, squash, cricket, lacrosse, and karting, represented the University at a chess tournament, and tried my hand at tennis, rowing, volleyball, air pistol shooting, fencing, and rounders.
My time at Cambridge was one of personal growth and development, forging bonds with wonderful people, and full of interesting conversations. I hope to apply these learnings and experiences to my personal and professional life, and to one day help open doors that the scholarship has opened for me, for those who do not even dare to knock on them.
