Message:
To quote the title of the autobiography of another alumnus of the University of Cambridge, Dr. Amartya Sen, my year at Cambridge helped me find my home in the world.
Apart from knowledge, the biggest gift that Cambridge gave me were the people I met and friends I made. Being immersed in cultures from different countries, I consider the exposure that Cambridge gave me, quite eye opening.
From watching the sun set over the city at Castle Mound, or going for early morning runs in minus two degree weather, to putting up long hours in the Squire library during exam season, Cambridge had the perfect balance of everything. They often say, that Cambridge is a perfect bubble, and these small magical experiences lent credence to that fact. To whoever is fortunate enough to study at Cambridge I wish that you too have as memorable a time at the University.
They say, it takes a village to raise a child, and that was especially true in my case. None of this would have been possible for me, without the Prathiba M Singh Scholarship, and I am truly grateful to Justice Singh, Dr Tandon, Mr. Maninder Singh, the Sardar Manmohan Singh Trust, and Cambridge Trust for this opportunity. I have also had the good fortune of being blessed with the kindness and generosity of so many people who have helped me get to where I am. And I eagerly look forward to passing it on to whoever will need it down the road.
